Best Practices for Individual Outpatient Treatment

Friday, September 13th @ 9 AM EST

First do no harm! How can we make sure we’re not inadvertently adding shame to our client’s relationship with their body or missing important signs that they are struggling?

This course will cover:

  • The prevalence of eating disorders

  • Risk factors associated with the development of eating disorders

  • Crucial questions to ask during intake assessments

  • Common medical complications that may arise

  • Levels of care available from inpatient hospitalization to outpatient treatment.

  • Evidence-based treatments including Family Based Treatment (FBT), Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).

  • Additionally, the course will address common transdiagnostic themes that occur across different eating disorders, such as shame, ambivalence, and control.

An important focus will also be on understanding and confronting weight stigma in our culture and in ourselves.

This comprehensive curriculum aims to equip clinicians with the knowledge and practical tools necessary for effective intervention and support in the treatment of eating disorders.
